Transforming brain health: integrating lifestyle and self-management in MS care

Why should I do this course?

This course will help health professionals tailor their lifestyle support to the challenges facing people with MS and other neurological conditions. It hopes to energise your thinking and ideas about supported self-management and inspire you to make a difference for these individuals in multiple care settings. Whilst this course addresses these areas through the lens of MS, lessons will have much wider applicability to the care of people with neurological and chronic conditions.

What does this course cover?

The course starts with a general overview of MS, its holistic treatment and the inter-related lifestyle aspects which may affect patient experience and progression. We will then look in depth at each lifestyle medicine pillar in the context of MS and brain health more generally. Finally we will consider the importance of self-efficacy and giving people the information needed to self-manage their condition as well as the barriers faced by both patients and healthcare professionals, and how this may be addressed across the system.
